I am a photographic artist. I create and capture images of the Spirit in people and their environments. I began dabbling with photography in college and was introduced to the work on Lange, Parks and other fine art photographers. My vision widened as I began to associate with musicians such as Eddie Harris, The Art Ensemble of Chicago, Thad Jones and Mel Lewis along with the Pharaohs. I began photographing musicians and dancers as a ritual performance, a concept. My work was also broadened by what I learned from three students of Yoruba Culture: Osemanji, I, Henry Drewal, and Gerald Duane Coleman. I am also deeply indebted to my parents, Russell and Eunice Pollard, who laid the foundation for my vision quest. I work in a variety of communications and formats. These include digital, 35 millimeter, medium format, large format as well as Photoshop. The technology, along with my travels in Africa, the Caribbean and various parts of the United States, are responsible for many of the concepts embodied in these photographs. These custom made photographs are truly "Moments of the Spirit"
