Jeanette Wright- Claus

Wright-Claus has expressed an interest in the arts throughout her life. Inspired by an episode of the Oprah Winfrey show in 2000 during which she encouraged viewers to follow spirit, by pursuing their passion. Jeanette began to create portraits, floral and abstract drawings and paintings.

In June of 2001, Jeanette established an art business called Creative Dreams. The name derived from a favorite quote, “Reach for the stars by following your dreams”. Her first exhibition was The Community Arts Fair, held on the grounds of The Performing Arts Center. She began to network with fellow artist and became a member of various art organizations. Since then, Jeanette has exhibited her art in countless local galleries including: Alfons, Greer Oaks, Latino Arts INC., Walker’s Point Center for the Arts, Uihlien Peters Gallery and Schauer Arts Center; artist markets, the Milwaukee Art Museum, Cathedral Square and Riverwest artist art crawl.

With art as her vehicle, she aims to raise the consciousness of society and promote positive change. In conjunction with MAGV, Jeanette created and was curator of Life and Death, Today’s Holocaust. The purpose of this photo exhibition was to garner support in establishing laws to curtail the spread of gun violence. The exhibition was held at Milwaukee’s City Hall in 2005, at the State Capitol Building in Madison, WI and Walker’s Point Center for the Arts in 2006.

She’s also facilitated workshops at public libraries and various family day care centers. She encourages others to allow spirit to guide them in pursuing “their” passion and dreams
